Road Songs: Seeking Help
Psalm 121

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?  2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. – Psalm 121:1-2 (ESV)

(MULTILINE REVEAL SMALL)

Seeking God’s help requires that…

  1. We we need help (121:1a)

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills. – Psalm 121:1a (ESV) (MULTILINE REVEAL SMALL)

  1. We to ask for help (121:1b).

From where does my help come? – Psalm 121:1b (ESV) (MULTILINE REVEAL SMALL)

Reasons we often don’t ask for help:
Experience – “I’ve got this because I’ve done this.”
Pride – “I’ve got this and I don’t need you or anyone else.”
Embarrassment – “I don’t have this, but I’m too embarrassed to admit it.”
Trust – “I’m not really sure you can help me.” (MULTILINE REVEAL SMALL)

  1. We in the help God gives (121:2-8).

2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.  8 The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. – Psalm 121:2-8 (ESV) (MULTILINE REVEAL SMALL)
