In 164 BC, Judah Maccabee, a Jewish military hero, entered Jerusalem after defeating the Seleucid Empire during the Maccabean Revolt. He cleansed and rededicated the Jewish temple, and the people welcomed him with palm branches and songs of praise. This event is still commemorated during Hanukkah.
Judah came to cleanse the temple, while Jesus came to become the temple—torn down and raised in three days. Judah rode in to lead a rebellion, while Jesus rode in to bear a cross. Judah brought temporary peace through battle, while Jesus brought eternal peace through his blood.

Pray each day this week that Jesus will be your peace. Ask yourself: Do I need to release any anxieties to him? Are there any sins I need to confess? Is there a scriptural promise I need to hold onto? Ask the Spirit to reveal the answers to you.
