Do to others as yourself
February 16, 2025 / Cornerstone Global Methodist ChurchMatthew 7:7-14
Our Church’s Vision: Love God, Love People, Serve Both. Note that order!
FIRST: Love
SECOND: Love People
Who do you know who loves you as much as they love themselves?
We can “do to others as we would have them do unto us” because GOD LOVES US LIKE THAT!
God loves us first! But this is a road way to live!
The ‘typical’ way to live is pro . (I’ll scratch your back IF you scratch mine!)
Instead, we will love with kind of love as described in 1 Corinthians 13!
Agape love IS: patient, kind, protective, hopeful, trusting, persevering, truthful Agape love is NOT: envious, boastful, proud, dishonoring, self-seeking, easily angered, wrong-remembering, evil-liking
-actively love others by doing to them as you would to yourself — what they truly, deeply need!
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
1) Where have you noticed that God is starting to point out people in need around you? Who are you seeing more, caring about more, etc.?
2) What was your last success – when you did something for someone proactively?
3) When was the last time someone did something loving for you?
READ 1 Cor. 13, and Matthew 7:7-14
A. Who loves you very, very deeply?
B. Who is God calling you to reach out to this week with loving compassion, proactively?
C. What do you need to confess and be forgiven for and LET GO OF so that you can love better?
PRAY: “Jesus, forgive me for _____. Help me to see more clearly how to love my neighbor by doing for them what they most deeply need me to do. Amen!”
