Memory Verse:
3 “So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.”
Deuteronomy 8:3 NKJV
As we dive into this one-on-one conversation between Saul and Jesus on the road to Damascus, we encounter a tension that’s still very real today. Like Saul, many people believe they know enough about God. They hold a certain perception of who God is and what He will do, yet somehow they’ve exempted themselves from allowing God to truly work in their own lives. This may sound surprising, but many feel they’ve already reached the peak of their journey with God—thinking there’s nothing more to learn, no growth left to experience, and no need to tell others about God’s power. As a result, we can become spiritually complacent, assuming that God is no longer working or moving, simply because His work doesn’t look, feel, or sound as they expected.
We forget about the one-on-one conversation we had in our lives with Jesus as he reminded us of the Way to go and the Way to live.
A One-on-One Conversation with Jesus Clears Our Path and Opens Our Eyes to His Way

So today, let’s lay the groundwork to approach God with open minds, asking Him to show us any ways we may be ignoring His prompting. Although the background of this text reveals the persecution of the early church—a reality that continues today—that’s not our main focus for this message. Instead, we’ll center on this life-changing conversation that calls each of us to greater openness, humility, and awareness of how God might be getting our attention.

Ananias’s obedience wasn’t easy or convenient, but it brought the light of Christ to Saul, and through Saul, that light would spread far and wide. Today, we’re called to that same obedience. We may not always understand where God is leading, but when we respond, “Here I am,” we, too, become part of His story of transformation and grace.

As we bring this series, “One on One Conversations,” to a close, let’s reflect on the powerful, personal encounters Jesus had with each individual we’ve studied. Let’s ask ourselves: What one-on-one conversation does Jesus want to have with us? What might He be speaking into our own questions, struggles, and challenges? And how might we be transformed if we respond like the woman at the well, like Nicodemus, like Peter, and even like Saul?
I pray is that we would continue these conversations with Jesus daily—that we would seek Him, listen to Him, and allow Him to shape us into His likeness. Because these aren’t just stories from the past; they’re invitations to us now. May we go forward ready to meet Jesus one-on-one, allowing Him to transform us and empower us to share His love with the world.
