Jonah 4

When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known.
1 Corinthians 13:11-12 NASB

Jonah’s story is a story of God’s .

1st For !

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, Jonah 3:1

2nd For the !

Then the sailors became afraid and every man cried out to his god, and they hurled the cargo which was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them. But Jonah had gone below into the stern of the ship, had lain down, and fallen sound asleep.
Jonah 1:5

Then they cried out to the Lord and said, “We earnestly pray, O Lord, do not let us perish on account of this man’s life, and do not put innocent blood on us; for You, Lord, have done as You pleased.”
Jonah 1:14

3rd For the !

Then the people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.

However, we see Jonah – with the and with .

Lessons on how God deals with Jonah and his :

The writing of Jonah began with two personalities – and – and it ends the same way.

It is also true in lives.

1st Jonah’s ! vs 1-3

Obviously – Jonah is .

He felt .

Should he not have been ?

Take notice:

1st Jonah tried to himself!

2nd Jonah tried to things!

Here is a caution:

“Handle the Bible with .”

Truth We are all , we are not , and we have “no means of  ourselves.

3rd Jonah asked for again!

But, what is wrong with Jonah?

  • Jonah is not in with the of God yet.

This is called – .

  • Jonah God’s to him.

This is called term loss.

  • Jonah did not God nearly as as he he did.

This is like the brother of the and it is called .

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after
their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue just as they were from the beginning of creation.”
2 Peter 3:3-4

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as somecount slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for allto come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:8-9
