“Come Meet Jesus … Always Seeking”
Mark 1:35-45
The Son was seeking to always do the will of the Father. His mission was returning hearts to the
Father, not merely healing bodies and casting out spirits. He resisted fame and mere miracle-chasers.
What He wanted was repentant, believing, surrendered disciples … devoted followers not fair-
weather fans. Jesus always sought the right things while the people sought the selfish things.
Consider four clear characteristics of Jesus’ seeking …
1. Seeking Intimacy [1:35]
Rising very early
There He prayed
(MULTILINE)
2. Seeking Focus [1:36-39]
A search party
A mission re-direct
(MULTILINE)
3. Seeking Compassion [1:40-42]
The self-seeking leper
The angry heart of compassion
(MULTILINE)
4. Seeking Followers [1:43-45]
The stern rebuke of Jesus
The loose-lipped leper
(MULTILINE)
For Spiritual Conversation: Can you name one thing you do, or have done, that appears to be very
spiritual, but has at times actually been very selfish?
