Judges 6-7
 
Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and for seven years He gave them into the hands of the Midianites…Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the LORD for help. When the Israelites cried to the LORD because of Midian, He sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says… “But you have not listened to me.” Judges 6:1, 6-8a, 10b
Bad Bring Bad
How to make good choices that lead to good results.
1. who is calling you
When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the LORD, he exclaimed, “Ah, Sovereign LORD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!” Judges 6:22
2. the power of obedience
The LORD said to Gideon, “With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the other men go, each to his own place.”…The Midianites, the Amalekites and all the other eastern peoples had settled in the valley, thick as locusts. Their camels could no more be counted than the sand on the seashore… Gideon and the hundred men with him reached the edge of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just after they had changed the guard. They blew their trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, “A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!” While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled. Judges 7:7, 12, 19-21
3. what the LORD knows

When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, He said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.” Judges 6:12

The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” Judges 6:14

The LORD answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together.”… Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon… Judges 6:16, 34a
d. … our weaknesses.
Gideon replied, “If now I have found favor in Your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me…Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised… During that night the LORD said to Gideon, “Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands. If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah and listen to what they are saying. After-ward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp.” So he and Purah his servant went down to the outposts of the camp. Judges 6:17, 36; 7:9-11

When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the LORD, he exclaimed, “Ah, Sovereign LORD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!” But the LORD said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.” So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD is Peace. Judges 6:22-24a
