Your heart and the road to the right darkness

Ps 84:5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their heart on pilgrimage.

  • Where is your heart?

God send me anywhere, only go with me.

Lay any burden on me, only sustain me.

And sever any tie in my heart except the tie that binds my heart to yours.

    1. What is your right darkness?

What is the road to that darkness?

A missionary society wrote to David Livingston and asked ‘Have you found a good road to where you are? – if so, we want to send other men to join you. Livingstone wrote back “If you have men who will come only if they know there is a good road, don’t send them. I want men who will come if there is no road at all.”

    • What are your excuses?

    Moses’ story Exodus 3 & 4

Burning bush, holy place, then “Here I am”.

The exchange between God & Moses

God: I am on a rescue mission, and I am sending you.

    Moses: 1. Who am I?

    God: I am with you.

Moses: 2. What if they say what’s his name (who are you?).

    God: I am.

Moses: 3. What if they don’t believe?

God: What is in your hand?

    Moses: A staff.

Moses: 4. I’m not eloquent, I’m slow of speech and tongue.

    God: Who made you? Go.

    Moses 5: Send someone else.

God’s anger burned against Moses, yet he had a plan B with his brother Aaron.

    What are your excuses?

Some day when ‘fill in the blank’ happens (job, money, kids, house, etc.)

Family to take care of – Luke 9:60 Jesus said follow me. The servant said first let me bury my father. Jesus said let the dead bury the dead.

What are your excuses? Write them down.

Do they trump the purpose and destiny of God in your life?

Can the clay say to the potter – I don’t like that shape – or I don’t want to be used for that purpose.

You cannot excuse your way out of the purpose of God.

    • Have you placed what you have in God’s hands?
