Jesus Over Isolation
(Mark 2:1-5) When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. 2 Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, 3 four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat.4 They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. 5 Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”
(Psalm 68:6) God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
1. Check Your Heart
(Proverbs 4:23) Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
How do we guard our hearts
1. Spend time in God’s presence
2. Spend time reading God’s promises
(Ephesians 4:31-32 NLT) Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
2. Check Your Circle
(Proverbs 13:20) Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
(MARK 2:5) Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man…
(Mark 2:5) Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”
3. Check Your Testimony
(1 John 2:1-2) My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
(Mark 2:10-12 NLT) 10 So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said,11 “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” 12 And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, “We’ve never seen anything like this before!”
